Jennifer Lawrence Expresses Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ Dividing the Nation Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels fitting to voice opinions against the Trump presidency, worried it could worsen unhelpful debate and increase separation throughout the nation.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Notes the Actress

Speaking with media, Lawrence shared, “When Trump was first in office, I felt like I was acting frantically without clear direction. But as we’ve learned, election after election, celebrities do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the country apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Lawrence has admitted freely about voting for both conservative and liberal presidential nominees over the years. Brought up by Republican parents in her home state, she cast her ballot for John McCain in 2008 then moving to the left-leaning politics and explaining she realized during President Obama’s term that backing conservatives was undermining her individual liberties as a woman.

Previous Comments

Earlier in her career, she commented that Trump winning the presidency would be “a disaster” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. During the most recent election, she lent her support to Vice President Harris, “because I feel she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will take all necessary steps to defend women’s health rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

Jennifer Lawrence was joined by many in the entertainment industry in her disapproval of the former president as a returning figure, but the minimal impact celebrities have over the public choices was highlighted by the outcome.

“The second term feels different,” commented Lawrence regarding his administration. “Since he stated his intentions. We knew what he did for the previous administration. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

Current Projects

Jennifer Lawrence is highlighting her new film, Lynne Ramsay’s movie in which she stars as a young mom who struggles with her mental health in a remote area. At a media event for the project in Venice, Lawrence commented on Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s occurring is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”

Wider Issues

Lawrence added by saying that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the conversations of U.S. political debates right now and how that is going to be accepted to the children right now. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”

She attempted to refocus anger about the issue to decision-makers rather than celebrities. “Stay focused on who is responsible,” she remarked, which was interpreted as a nod to the declaration endorsed by thousands of arts community members to avoid specific industry bodies.

Personal Connections

The actor, who received an Academy Award early in her career for her part in Silver Linings Playbook, is generating Oscar buzz for her work in the new film. Although Ramsay has disputed the plot being seen as one of postpartum depression and mental illness, the actress revealed that she did relate to parts of her character’s journey after the arrival of her second son, shortly after production wrapped.

“It was fear about my child,” she explained, “envisioning every negative outcome, and then doubting everything that I was doing. I was receiving counseling, but I started taking a treatment called that medicine and I used it for 14 days and it made a difference.”

Career Moments

Lawrence also mentioned of the empowering aspect of completing nude scenes in the film while she was expecting and unable to exercise.

“It’s refreshing,” she said, regarding the need to set aside self-consciousness. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between me and a prostitute? But it isn’t a major concern.”
