Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
